I think the idea of my mom buying fake designer items is irksome to me because we're surrounded by a lot of wealthy people in our social circle, and I don't want it to look like we're trying to pretend to be rich. I think where I'm from, a third world country, having designer items is a huge status symbol, and I don't want it to look like we're trying to fake that. I don't know.. To me, in the context of my society, it would just come off like I'm trying to be pretentious? I don't know if I'm making much sense but that's the best way I can explain it.
