My mom is screwing me out of $2,300

Thank you. I didn't come here to be berated with comments about how I should be thankful. I came here to get my money (as most people who come here do). Beforehand, I thought there was little to no chance of me fixing this. Now, thanks to you and a few other helpful people, I know that this is an easy fix :)

Rent is 250 a month? That is cheap. Yes, your mother is in the wrong here. Its the truth. If you get this situated and end up getting the 2300 back, do you plan on paying your mother back for those 6 months of rent?

No one is berating you. We are just being honest. Get your refund and then be a grown up and give your mother back 6 months rent. Then you're left with 800 bucks. Tell her thank you for helping and you apologize if you've upset her.

2300 dollars when your mother gave you 1500+ for free rent isnt enough to ruin a relationship over. Yes its your money, feel free to do whatever you like, but you sound like an ungrateful little shit and that your mother is out to get you. This may be the case, but it also may be the case where your mother thought she was providing enough support to claim you and that was her intentions when paying your rent.

Be a grown up, discuss it with your mother.
