Okay. So this shit was happening to me and this subreddit wasn’t too much help, I found very little info anywhere online really. I have a launch PS5 so it’s out of warranty and Sony wanted way too much just to take a look at it.

The crashing hasn’t happened to me in months since I made a few small and weird changes:

-Deep clean, it if you’re outside of warranty, take the fan out and clean the insides. YouTube will show you how. My heatsink was covered in dust and hair from years of being near the floor with cats and junk. That didn’t immediately fix it but the full shutdowns happened less often after this.

-Make sure there is airflow all around the PlayStation, even beneath it. I bought a cheap monitor stand on Amazon and put it on that so it’s got it’s only little space to breathe.

-Don’t use rest mode. This sounds stupid but I think that’s what actually fixed it. I found a few people mentioning it somewhere online and now I power down my console every time. This sucks the most when you want to jump into things quickly but it’s not too bad and I genuinely think it’s what solved the issue. I know nothing of computers and fixing things but a combo of the above things fixed it lol. There was a time it went into rest mode after being idle and later on when I was playing again, it crashed. No joke.

You can also try completely reinstalling the software using an external usb drive. I could not get this to work, for some reason it just kept stalling or giving me errors. Read that it might help in a few places too. To be honest i think my console is corrupted in some way or another but who knows. It’s working, for now! Best of luck, friend!
