PSA: Protect your PSN account with an extra layer of security by enabling 2-Step Verification today!

I am not using 2FA ever again from Sony. I've lost 9999+ hours of multiple games. They refused all proof I provided when I ringed them up. All due to I lost my old SIM.

They want 1 of 3 things:

  • Phone Contract Bill
    • I use Pay & Go since it's cheaper - it doesn't have bill paper.
  • Driver's license
    • I don't drive, I prefer but since it's cheaper.
  • Passport
    • I will never get on a plane and I don't travel. They're expensive to buy.

I could:

  • Provide bill email receipts from when I purchased stuff of their store.
  • Provide a decent history of my play time on what games.
  • Provide all my profile information such as full name, address, post code etc from when I signed up to PSN.

What frustrates me most is that I had games backed up on my USB and because of this terrible system in place, players can't transfer saves to another user account. Not unless players buy a save editor.

I avoid buying digital games now.

Also SIM cards can fail or be stolen so you're pretty much playing with fire by enabling 2FA. I just use strong password now that I backup on multiple places.

People say on PS4 that it's a "me" problem. Many places suggested me to use 2FA for extra security and I was not warned about the recovery requirements before I enabled it.
