My thoughts on the gay marriage issue in America and Islam, hoping to hear from you guys as well!

People will ask Muslims if they support gay marriage or not. Well do I? Well, no. But I'm not against it either.

Hold it right there -- according to our system of morality, which is al-Islam, this act is immoral. Yes, that's fine, we have no right to compel our morality on others outside of our societies -- correct -- but that doesn't mean that, for the sake of political correctness, you should say things like "but I'm not against it either." Would you say the same for fornication, incest, necrophilia, ornithophilia, or, brace yourself for the escalation, murder?

Must make a response here. He's referring to the "act of gay marriage" which is an act of love.

The Quran has a beautiful ayat. It doesn't just state that Allah swt has given us mates, but asks us to reflect on it.

And among His Signs is this, that He created for you mates from among yourselves, that ye may dwell in tranquillity with them, and He has put love and mercy between your (hearts): verily in that are Signs for those who reflect. (Quran 30:21)

and then there is Quran 4:15

If any of your women are guilty of lewdness, Take the evidence of four (Reliable) witnesses from amongst you against them; and if they testify, confine them to houses until death do claim them, or Allah ordain for them some (other) way. (Yusuf Ali, Saudi ed.)

Allah opens ways. For so many years, the Abrahamic traditions used Lut to shun lgbt people.

The sins of Lut were many and go back to a time when men were punished by being forced to marry their victims.

Does the Torah Punish a Rape Victim?

How many Jews and Christians are practicing this "solution" to rape today? It is time for Muslims to similarly move forward. Muhammad, pbuh, was perfect in faith, but he wanted us to remember he was just a man. He told his followers in one hadith to trust him in matters of faith, but that he was not perfect in other matters. That would include psychology and the genetic make-up of creatures. God has never said that homosexuality is "unnatural". It is the same across the board, heterosexual or homosexual, the sin is to disrespect the highest possible intimacy between two partners, the "love and mercy" of heart and body - the soul touching soul is the most intimate gift God has given us. Or to make a public display of it.
