My trunk saved my life.

I just learned this lesson the hard way.

I smoke a small amount in the evenings for pain and stress management. I never take it away from my property. Until last week.

I was needing to go into ATL for some business meetings and thought, well I'll roll two and put them in a tin and take them with me. Seemed unlikely that would cause me a problem. I haven't had a ticket in years.

Of course, that morning an officer decided to pull me over for an HOV lane violation. Long story - I had an approved vehicle and had the tags for several years until the GA legislature retroactively removed my model from the list.

Anyway, he asked me if I smoked and I told him yes. He asked when the last time was (this was a Monday) and I told him the prior evening about 7. He asked if I had any in my car and i told him yes I had a tin with two joints in my pocket.

He had me get out of the car, checked me to make sure I was not currently impaired, and then had me dump the joints on the ground and destroy them. He was nice enough to remind me that it still wasn't legal in GA and I should leave it at home in the future.

He still gave me the HOV ticket but I have to say I respect the fact that the police are starting to understand the insanity of this current law against it.
