my wife is in shock

I met my special pioneer wife in Guatemala where I was serving "where the need is great!"

I left after 35 years 4th generation. I sat her down and told her after I put about 4 beers down, it was very hard. She cried.

I told her I loved her with all my heart and I wasn't leaving her! I told her I would always take care of her, take her on vacations, live and respect her and EVEN support her in her as a JW. I mean after all I do believe in her right to freedom of religion.

My personal $0.02 is to sit her down, my wife sat in my lap outside and I held her hand while I told her. It was hard but she supports me and loves me. I told her my very dolid reasons for leaving. Not all but the big ones. CSA, United Nations membership, local elders nepotism and cronyism (which she saw when I was serving as M.S and got passed as elder over ass kissers).

It's not easy but I'd make sure you separate your marriage vs the religion. They're two different things. You're not leaving her.... you're leaving a religion.
