Nepal PM strictly warns India not to interfere in its political affairs

Nepal shouldn't play like a whore asking for a higher bidder between India and China all the time.

Can you tell me what benefit will Nepal get from importing supplies through China instead of India? There is none. That is why Indian government was so confident on its interference? All I see is just loss for Nepal. What was the other options left for Nepal? Either it had to obey India, or cripple without fuel and supplies.

It may work once or twice

It didn't work well for Nepal both times when India imposed such blockade in the past. And Indian government knows well that it is not feasible for Nepal to import supplies from China.

being an ingrate ass

I understand that many Indians are upset that Nepalese aren't grateful to India for fuel, supplies and aids. But from Nepalese point of view it's not so easy to consider India's policy towards Nepal as benevolent. Historically, there has been events like similar economic blockade in the past, which created a bad image of India. Whenever there are political changes, we see India comes into play as a major player, which most people don't like.

Also it's not like Nepal-India relation benefits only Nepal. First, considering it's geographical location, India always wanted Nepal to be close and I guess Nepal is still the second best friend for India in south asia after Bhutan. Regarding open border, there also millions of Indians who live and work in Nepal. Nepal is the 7th largest source of remittance for India. There are many Indian investments in Nepal. And more trade basically means more profit for India, because Nepal buy from India a lot more than the other way round. Recently, India also seems to be quite interested in water resources in Nepal. But I do agree that a good relation is much more important for Nepal than for India.

But it still doesn't make sense to create blockade. Nepal didn't start some Nuclear weapon program, that India should worry about. And Indians shouldn't support the blockade just because there is some anti-India sentiment in Nepal? There are people who dislike Indian government but not the people, while like everywhere there are nationalistic people who can't differentiate government and people. But, it is not fair to compare the anti-India sentiment in Nepal with that of something like in Pakistan. Was there any violence towards the Indians living in Nepal during this two months blockade? No. I don't think there is much problem in people-to-people level, except some racism which is also in India. Didn't happen in past. But the anti-India sentiment is an outcome of series of historical events, nationalism, ignorance, and it takes time to go that away. The older generations, who saw two previous blockades had much more anti-India sentiment than the newer generation. When Modi came to Nepal, he was surprising very well received by the Nepalese people. But now this blockade will only help to extend that anti-India sentiment for one more generation.
