I highly disagree.

That's great that it worked for your government, but this isn't Canada. This is the United States. We unfortunately have leaders and officials at Washington that feel much differently about marijuana than your government does.

We have worked very carefully over the past two decades to press for legalization fairly and responsibly in state legislatures. We've had to take small steps forward, setting examples of the positive benefits of legalization. Washington DC is a region that voted upon and agreed to allow recreational marijuana, under specific laws that it cannot be consumed in public.

Blatantly breaking the law in mass does nothing but displays disregard to marijuana laws which have been set in place. It screams to politicians that people who smoke marijuana are people who also like to break the law to prove a point. And that's bullshit. We don't need those types of people tainting what legal progress we've made in Congress.

It's still very illegal at a federal level, scheduled at a higher level than cocaine and methamphetamine. Putting up a middle finger to officials and expecting to be arrested is irresponsible and foolish. That is not how you conduct changing a law.
