Netflix CEO Criticises Movie Theaters’ Lack of Innovation Beyond Popcorn [ALL]

And how does a comfortable chair make the movie any better? I still can't lay down. All I get is a little extra padding on my butt? OOOOO GREAT INNOVATION! Totally worth that $15-20 I spent on a 2 hour movie. One time. If I want to see it again, I need to shell out another $15-20 to watch it at a certain time that the theater planned on showing it.

Meanwhile, $10/mo, and I get unlimited access to countless movies and shows that I can watch whenever. So many summer blockbusters are on Netflix as soon as they go to video.

What's innovative about stadium seating? I remember that at the theaters being built as a kid in the mid-90s. Moveable arm wrests? HOLY SHIT! STOP THE PRESSES. INNOVATION RIGHT THERE. Again, early/mid-90s I remember those starting to pop up. IMAX? You're kidding? You mean the format that's been around for decades as well?

Literally everything you listed that improved the movie experience was in the 90s. Nothing new since then besides higher ticket prices. Reserved seating is annoying if anything for casual movie goers. Especially annoying if you reserved your seat only to get there and see you're sitting next to a 500 lb person.

And full meals are not an innovation if you ask me. They're an annoyance. 2 hours. That's all. Just go 2 fucking hours without shoving food down your face and making light rustling noises as others try to focus on the movie.
