Why is this sub almost entirely fear-mongering?

You're not really giving a fair take of the many criticisms people have about crime in San Francisco. You took the worst possible interpretation of complaints involving crime and homelessness and added your own unhelpful flourish that blows all out of proportion. This is called a straw man argument. You're making one of those. And you're not helping. Great, SF is a paradise for you. I'm glad you like it. I like it too, but it does have a severe homeless problem and a problem with crime. Companies aren't closing stores because things are going well. My friends that live in apartments where the homeless have taken up the street cannot enter or exit their apartments front door without having to deal with a very bad situation, such as human feces constantly piling up there, a horrid smell and violent and unruly behavior day and night.

Stop putting on your rosy colored glasses and stop mispresenting what's going on.
