New IronFat: things not to say to fat people at the gym ("Good for you for starting a workout program!", "Keep going and you’re going to lose that weight!", "I’ve seen you here a lot, you’re doing great" and "You won’t lose weight doing that!")

Count me in. 5+ years, 6-7 times a week, never seen ANY criticism or hostility towards overweight people in the gym.

Lots of talking though. I do a lot of classes and have 'gym friends' that I chat to every day about anything and everything. If we complain about anyone, it would be:

  • People who add loads of weights on in circuit class and don't remove them
  • People who use their phones/talk while the instructor is speaking
  • People (men) who invade your personal space
  • People who don't clear up after themselves
  • People who don't make any effort at all in the class (it's demotivating for others)

But there is absolutely no judgement or criticism of anyone for their body size/shape.
