New patch... did they just jump the shark?

The new mechanic is certainly daunting upon first glance, but it's actually very, very simple and has an extremely low learning curve.

Consider who it may be targeting, though--like u/KDLFK mentioned, it gives him something else to do in-game. There isn't much end-game content for veterans and longtime players, and this mechanic isn't much different from rune-crafting. But like rune-crafting, it's not a mechanic that newer players necessarily have to be concerned with, but should simply keep in mind for the future.

Since you're pretty much doing end-game things, u/Gaimcap, I imagine this sort of thing is exactly what a player like you would need to shake things up a bit, because while being top 50 in arena and min-maxing your heroes is all well and good, the game's mechanics just become far too easy to take advantage of once you understand how they work. But now duplicates with bad alignments have a purpose other than to simply sell for gold we don't need since gold is such an obtainable resource, and the meta we've had since the game launched (possibly even since beta) may finally change. We're getting back-to-back updates to keep us on our toes. This game has been lacking content, and with this update, I just gained a ton of excitement for what can still be done with this game.

The theorycrafting never ends.
