Honestly I would say to keep on leveling wind lich - swift/guard, spd def atk is a decent/easily available rune setup for him that will make him an extremely safe and pretty fast farmer, more so than wind bear anyways, but that only really works if you're cool with spending devilmon on him - he gets more than most other units out of them (skill2 going from 4 to 2 turn cd is insanely huge, being able to random aoe stun every other turn is MASSIVE for survivability). I do think he's a severely underrated monster in general, specialist in farming (both general and quest boss soloing). If you don't want to use him, wind bear is ok, but obnoxiously slow - I don't regret 6*ing him (and very lategame he picks back up vs high end fire arena teams) but if I'd had a wind lich at the time I would have gone with Fuco instead in a heartbeat.
In terms of actual team-related units;
water garuda is a great unit in general, insane utility, ridiculously tanky for a 2*, can have aoe heal+cleanse on a 2 turn cd if you max all skills and have him resurge himself.
fire inferno is good for SDs and (depending on runes) can be solid in low-mid arena (speed and damage) and ToA (despair with spd hp acc)
fire hellhound is actually a really solid offensive buffer for arena in particular though Shannon probably outshines in general PVE, especially giants B10. You can skip him if you don't like him and be 100% fine, but he is an option. If you decide to use him, a bit of tankiness instead of damage will help him actually survive past round 1; swift/energy with spd hp atk is a reasonable hybrid build if you still want him to do some damage himself but his primary use is for the buff.
Look to get a wind griffin ASAP (3*; Tamor Desert or MS), he'll help a lot. Light Vagabond (Darion) and light Inugamu (Bella) are amazing units with low rune requirements that can be farmed from SDs as well, it's worth going for them, but don't bother with Ahman until you have good runes.
The rest... many of them are usable to some degree but are IMO outshined by better alternatives. Some are fusion mats though - DON'T fodder them.
