Be nice to your fellow magicians, it’s a lonely craft

Yeah. Words sometimes can hurt you, even when you're an adult and know (or should know) how to handle harsh criticism.

I'm 41. A couple of weeks ago, during the exam at my local Magic Club, one of the teachers refused to shuffle the deck when handed to him– which threw me off –and commented my performance with:"You're trying to do the same kind of magic that I do. I can tell you, If I had a remote I would have changed the channel".

I got home and couldn't sleep all night thinking of that comment. There was no need to be mean, I had gladly accepted any suggestion to enhance my performance, see where my timing was bad, what should I have done differently. That comment was unhelpful, uncalled for and it really hurt.
