In 2016 we live at the dawn of the information age. We use all sorts of technology to make our everyday life easier. Some use it for entertainment and others for work. For example, some math problems nowadays are becoming so complicated and take so long to solve that many mathematicians have turned to computers to run proofs for them. But if computers can perform millions of calculations per hour completely on their own without any supervision how can we know all of these calculations are correct? Simply put, that's what they're designed to do. Designed by none other than some of the world's greatest minds. Computers come with microprocessors that have built in logic for taking on basic arithmetic, addition, subtraction, multiplication, division. Because computers can't read numbers like a human can these microprocessors convert our numbers into binary bits, a series of 0s and 1s, that the computer can read in order to perform its calculations. Some of the latest microprocessors by intel include over a billion transistors. Transistors are the backbone of the logic for completing arithmetic within the microprocessor.

Using their built-in logic microprocessors carry out math problems similar to the way we would on a normal day-to-day basis. In order to perform more complex mathematics, the computer will break down expressions into smaller less complex operations such as addition, subtraction etc. As well as this, mathematicians and computer scientists around the world are working together to write mathematical proofs. Mathematical proofs are exactly what it sounds like. In essence, these check on known statements that are acknowledged and accepted to be correct in order to prove the legitimacy of the calculations. These elements working in combination give the credibility needed for computers, and similar devices, to be used for so many simple and complex calculations.
