I've actually had the inverse (especially during the pandemic), where I'm calling a service provider for example, and they are prolonging the call, trying to start a non-business conversation after our interaction is over; I have what I called for, please stop looking at my account and giving me the "Yeah, that's what it's like in our area" type lines. I'm not talking "Is there anything else I can help you with?", I'm talking legitimate attempts to strike up conversation.
I get it, you live nearby, I sound nice and you're stuck inside with limited social interaction, but your telephony based job is DEFINITELY not the way to meet new people.
