Is it normal for an ED therapist to just not acknowledge other issues that drive an ED?

You have the right to quit and get a new therapist at any time. Unfortunately, other than licensing guidelines for very major violations like initiating sex with clients, psychology is basically an unregulated field without consistently held standards, a “soft science” at best... A lot of people with VERY widely varying skills and ethics maintain a practice. You have to protect and advocate for yourself by pulling the plug when they’re wasting your time. Unethical ones will try to stop you from leaving, ethical ones will wish you well on your journey’s next stop. I actually have PTSD from a therapist who was particularly bad. Take care of yourself. This relationship is supposed to be about YOU and YOUR needs.
