As it is with most thing in life, of course there are exceptions. These exceptions do not influence the validity of the initial statement, though.

Stepping onto the train tracks is against the rules but if someone falls down and can't get back up on their own naturally you should be allowed to go down to help them.

Stopping at a red light is what you should do in accordance with the law but if someone is bleeding out in your back seat you should ignore it if you can do so safely to get to the hospital faster.

Equality and equal opportunity in the workplace is important and is something that should be preserved whenever possible but people should still retain bodily autonomy and the right to choose who they want to search them in situations like one that might occur during security checks at the airport.
