Not a Single Major US Bank Is Now Willing to Finance Arctic Drilling

I don’t like that the main income for alaska is oil/gas revenue. I want the climate to return to its normal rhythm.

But the reality is that if you cut off oil and gas, ‘renewables’ will flourish but only to a baseline of barely usable, not ‘green’. Wind kills millions of birds/bats. Solar is too restrictive, work well in sunny places but what about when a place only has 4 hours of sunlight for few months?

And none of them are able to retain the energy they generate long term.

Have you ever tried to ship anything to alaska? Most companies will not ship there and if they do, it’s outrageously expensive. Trying to set up an artisanal income wouldn’t work. We have an insane arrival community, they’re incredible, but no one knows because shipping is too pricey.

The tourist industry is our other major source of income. But thanks to a worldwide pandemic, our state can’t get itself back on its feet.

Right now, oil and gas are our best option. Nuclear would be amazing but that got written off the table. There are ways forward, but writing off a state completely isn’t an option. Because without that income, alaska won’t exist.
