O LEVEL MEGATHREAD 2016

[Tips for Chemistry](/s "My chemistry teacher gave us 15 prelim papers from other schools. My Physics teacher however gave us 20. And yes some of my classmates did a meme of that on snapchat. My chemistry tried to push us a little bit by giving prelim papers from top schools like ____ Girls or Saint ____ like that.

For Pure science you need to be able to understand the question and the key points required. You can check this by looking at the number of marks accounted for that question. The space and number of lines provided should give a hint of how much you should write as well.

Know your content well, especially the basics like bonding and reactivity series. Most important is QA, since there will be many questions asking how to differentiate Metal A from Metal B and test for gases. If you are experienced in this part focus more on the advanced topics that utilise this, such as Electrolysis and Organic Chemistry. Talking about that, you need to memorise the common things, like the 4OH- --> 2H20 + 02 + 4e- and conditions for Ammonia and oxidation of Alcohol.

For questions like 'Describe the trend' and 'Suggest a reason why', you need to have a rough idea of how to answer it. You can check out the SEAB document on their website for more info.

To summarise, buck up your content as much as you can, such that you will be able to answer questions you never seen before. Ensure that you have fully answered the question and provided the correct keywords. For example, use the terms 'absorb' and 'release' instead of 'used' and 'needed' for enthalpy change. Since you don't have practise papers just do the TYS, a usual advice from many people. If you have more questions don't be afraid to ask your friends or better your teacher.

I only got a B3 for prelims, and my paper was set close to the O level standard. Tbh, I did not put much effort into it unlike my friends (they got A2s and A1s D: )You can do it.")
