I think you're right, the insidious thing about people like Jordan Peterson is they start off with things that basically everyone can agree with. "Keep your room tidy, having a space you enjoy being in will make you feel a bit better," that sort of thing. So you nod along and go yeah, that makes sense, this person seems to give good advice. And that's when they start slipping in more questionable things, here and there, slowly so you don't necessarily notice until one day they're saying shit like the IQ stuff you mentioned. Some people are like you and are observant enough and confident in their own moral compass that they're able to recognise it's crap, but then there's other people, particularly teenagers who see older people as wiser and smarter, who get the wool pulled over their eyes completely until they've been radicalised.
