Official Reaction Thread—Volume 5, Chapter 2: Dread in the Air

Okay. Excuse the caps for a moment, because I need to get this off my chest. I'm not angry. I'm furious.

They killed Sienna Kahn. THEY FUCKING KILLED SIENNA KAHN, WITHIN FIVE MINUTES OF HER BEING INTRODUCED.

I, personally, am annoyed. Just annoyed, over its actual happening in the show. But GODDAMMIT Miles and Kerry, do you have nothing between your ears?! Do you pay no attention to the world, or the variety of beliefs to which your fans hold?

You just killed off a woman of color in a visible minority. Do you really think people are going to stay silent about that? Jesus fucking christ...

Feel free to call that an overreaction, but if what I've seen from the fandom is any indication, this is going to start up a shitstorm somewhere.

Okay.

The rest of the episode was awesome, for the most part. The seer Grimm continues to be cool. Watts is growing on me. Leo needs a hug, and likewise needs an out from Salem. Cinder can... talk again. groans

I adore Hazel already. And though annoyed by Sienna's death, it's the most visible killing we've gotten thus far, and in that aspect it was quite impactful.

Weiss' bit was wonderful to watch. Some of the combat noises and efforts were a little... off, and bits and pieces still suffered from Maya's floaty physics, but it was solid. I'm surprised that she mastered the Knight so quickly. Food for thought: her Knight killed it, but does that still mean she'll be able to summon a Queen Lancer now?

Nice twist with Raven at the end. Looks like the first reunion we'll get is Ruby and Weiss, or slightly less probable, Yang and Weiss.

Overall, I actually very much enjoyed it. I'm just worried about... backlash...
