Ok, Reddit, if we all suspended judgment for a sec, what do you want to brag about?

I brush my teeth once a day and never floss and haven't had any dental or oral problems in the last 20 years. I've become so adept at keeping my teeth clean by only brushing once that the last time I was at the dentist was 9 years ago (prior to that was 7 years). They found zero cavities, my gums were completely healthy, and no signs of any oral disease and were flabbergasted when I told them how long it's been since I've been to the dentist and what my cleaning routine is.

I know everyone will judge this anyways as,"ew, disgusting" and "you're definitely going to get cavities" ..."blah, blah, blah" but, no. It hasn't happened, and never will. Why?

Because:

  • I don't eat a lot of sugary foods or sugar in general (of course I indulge on occasion)

  • I brush thoroughly (my entire process takes 10 minutes; I brush at many angles, several times, and swish/hold for about 5 minutes while I'm doing other things) and don't eat or drink anything before or after for several hours

  • I usually snack on cashew, macadamia, and almonds prior to going to sleep and they help clean teeth

Take this for what it's worth. It works for me, and I get to remove a "usual" bodily maintenance trip and cost.
