The original concept model for the P 1000 Ratte these images are EXTREMELY RARE as far as I know they can only be found in the book (German super heavy Panzer projects of World War II wehrmacht concepts and designs).

Please don’t crucify me, I’m just playing devils advocate for a second.

From a certain standpoint is it really gigantomania? Like if you presented a tiger tank to German military command in 1920 and compared it with a panzer I what would they think? Or an IS compared to a BT3 for the Russians?

The general trend of the arms race for a while had been bigger guns followed by more armor and that somewhat peaked around the size of panthers, tigers, and Russian KV or IS vehicles. What if we just continued that trend though?

Obviously the massive caveat is that Germany lost their air superiority. But if they kept that safety blanket would these concept vehicles really be that outrageous?
