he cant. hes average technically and being able to cross is not good attacking. you shouldnt even be relying on crosses to 1 or 2 isolated men behind 2 defenders and dueling with CBs (basically a ball from distance needed to be pin point to pick out a couple of players surrounded by 6-7 men). its about overlaps, interplay, ball carrying and most importantly playing out from your own half/evading pressure. Azpilicueta cant do any of that not on the right either. its not as simple as "egh he has a right foot he can cross". when are our crosses ever effective? an attacking fullback is mean to give width to create pockets of space centrally for midfielders and wingers. he played at RB under mourinho a few times too he just hasnt looked good there at all, hes practically a LB now hes been playing there for years. Its not an over exagerration I take no pride in saying someone looks worse than Ivanovic but its true. Azpi is either a LB or a RB but only if hes better than Aina. we havent seen enough of Aina which is why I'd go with him rather than someone we know will underperform. And Azpilicueta even switching sides wont magically become more physical or fast which is a big problem as he gets caught up and paced so easily on transitions. Azpi cant even defend anymore mate its been like this for a while. Its Alonso +1, I'd go with Aina for the reasons said but as long as Ivanovic isnt playing Im happy.
