[Jacob Steinberg] Chelsea are determined to give Graham Potter time to around the club’s fortunes and do not want to make a decision on his future based on the next two games, at home to Leeds and Borussia Dortmund.

Boehly is an experienced American sports owner. Obviously relegation doesn’t exist in American sports, but he is familiar with tumultuous rebuilds. The Dodgers are now a juggernaut with a structure unlike any other in Major League Baseball. It’s quite common in American sports for teams that have had great success for a decade+ to go into a rebuild.

We are outsiders to the ins and outs of the club and I could be wrong but it sounds like there was a lot of things in the clubs “structure” be it recruitment, facilities, commercial that have just gone on as is. Look at our recruitment over the last few years…thrown together with spit and paste or high profile names brought in because “the manager could be gone tomorrow.”

In the NBA the Philadelphia 76ers tanked purposely for years and kept a coach at the helm until the “structural rebuild” was completed and ready to try to take them to the next step. Potter may be the structural rebuild manager that will take ownership “as far as he can” through the rebuild and then they will probably move on.

This is going to be a painful period that most aren’t used to. The crazy spending was to try to expedite the process. I’m sure there is a ton of work being done behind the scenes that the supporters don’t even have a clue about that will bring benefit to the club long term. Hopefully incentivized contracts becoming the norm at our club eliminate toxic player power scenarios.

This is going to suck now and maybe beyond just now. It’s not the norm obviously for a big 6 club to be in the spot and hopefully will yield dividends.

Been trying really hard to just find some rational idea of what’s happening and this is what I came up with
