Has Paizo nailed the art of playtesting?

I gained some hopes with the Book of the Dead release and some of the new specific familiars. (One that has combat utility) Since Witches were the best class for getting specific familiars (naturally more familiar abilities and the only class with Improved Familiar feat without an archetype). They decided mechanically that witches are the familiar class, especially since Hex cantrips were abandoned beyond their 1st level choice.

Knights of Lastwall also with the new familiar feat for Witches (and Sorcerer) too which had some interesting new choices design-wise. (Another aid reaction and actually giving your familiar a spell). Was thinking they got their stride on what they wanted to do.

Then Dark Archives comes along, Logan Bonner saying they’re aware that they didn’t get the design right and that their intended design is “creepy”. And they make a new patron! With a Rare quality…

I really think they should double down on the Witch being the familiar class. For goodness sake, their baseline Hex focus spell is to protect their familiar that really has minimal incentive to be in combat anyway.

However, it is what it is. I can only hope with the recent CRB errata, that there might be an APG errata coming, but, I feel more strongly that they might just be focusing on brand new shiny classes instead (which…they don’t even want to continue the pace they have going).
