Parents of reddit, what is most fucked up secret you are hiding from your children?

Me is a child. I had an uncle who I didn't know very well but liked a lot since we met a few times. He was a talented jeweler who worked out of his apartment in Russia. He had a daughter with my aunt. He was also a drinker. In 1995 or so I learn that he took a break from his work, went downstairs to buy himself some vodka from a kiosk, which was common. It was also common not to know the origins of said vodka. So he took a shot and died. That's the story I was told.

I couple of months ago I am told that he was a partner in a jewelry-making business, and his partner was connected to mafia. My uncle didn't know that. The partner sent mafia goons to squeeze my uncle for everything he got, including all future profits. My uncle took a few shots of vodka for bravery and took his own life.

Additionally, his daughter wasn't his but I didn't know that. He married my aunt who was already pregnant and dedicated his life to the child. His daughter has had severe depression for years after his death.
