Also one can be clinically depressed as the primary disorder and diagnosed as being on the spectrum as a contributing factor... “You also have ‘a touch of Aspergers’ which isn’t doing you any favors,” as one of my psychiatrists so delicately put it.

No two people’s experience is the same and, again, it’s not a competition, but a ton of clinically depressed people don’t make it out of their 20s.

And while I can’t speak to what it’s like to be at the far end of the autism spectrum, I can say my own experience with depression is pretty dark, very lonely and close to unbearable most days going all the way back to my earliest memories.

So let’s just agree that brain disorders suck. Period. There’s no need to rank which is worse.
