Yeah, I've had a lot of people tell me it might be Cryostasis but multiple things don't line up, although I haven't played it (only watched the opening scene on Youtube)

The biggest thing excluding it is that I got a new computer for Christmas 2007 in preparation for SPORE, and the game wasn't released until a year after SPORE. I am 100% certain I did not play the game on this computer. Also, the level is very dark while the game I'm thinking of was fairly light with a blue tinge, and Cryostasis also has constant dog barking while I remember occasional, but consistent, wolf howling (although I am now questioning if it could've been barking instead of howling)
