People who used to be straight A students but later changed, what shifted your perspective in life?

I went to a top school for programming. Like, people make 70K, sometimes even 80K, right out of the gate because we have a huge tech area around the school. Huge sense of elitism, and rightfully so, you'll meet some of the brightest people here.

Getting some failing grades and not understanding a word about computer science is quite demoralizing, to be honest.

So yeah. I'm dropping out of that school. I'm still in it but my parents are like "Ya gotta ride it out." And sure, they're right. I'm still learning some stuff. But come finals, and I'm outta there. I only lasted a single semester, and people said I was gonna be fine. But I fucking hate it. And I've never been so sad and depressed in a long while. And I should've followed my true fashion instead of just caring about money. My parents always told me to do that, but I guess I just wanted to impress my dad who is a computer science guy.

I applied to some average, typical state schools. I couldn't be more happy. It's either English or a Radio/Film/TV degree, depending on the school I go to (I applied to two). I'm so excited to start next semester.
