Planning my own celebration makes me feel worse.

That true but if I see family go above and beyond for friends or SOs or inlaws shouldn't I expect more effort too? Or at least some sort of conversation about it?

The best bday I ever had was when a coworker threw me a surprise party. A coworker spent weeks planning it. And it's so disappointing when people I'm actually related to or close to dont even bother doing 1% of that.

Or when an old friend who I lost touch with called me out of the blue and took me to an event I've always wanted to go to.

Heck even when a new friend I had just met even wanted to take me somewhere i haven't been in ages until we realized it cost more than we could afford at the time.

But my family and close friends don't even talk about it. It's just sad when no one really remembers and when they do they don't even talk about it, bring it up, ask about it or even ask what you did for it.

It's just sad all around.
