Poles must get used to second-class membership of the new, post-pandemic EU

Some comments:

Notes from Poland is clearly the type of the organisation that you described, so everything there should be taken with a grain of salt. It is frequently used in the sub to present "westernised inside look" into Poland (allowing people to stay comfortable in their bubble).

The link is flaired as an "opinion piece" so there's no surprise that it is an opinion piece :)

I posted it strictly because (and you should know that if you read it) it rises above the issues that are used to rile up and distract Western public opinion (justice reform / LGBT issues - really a sideshow presented as a main dish) and detaches the prognosis from PiS itself (also a distraction in the big picture) and points at meta-reasons on why the thesis of the article may come true.

Tldr - regardless of the "flashy" issues of the day (even if it capitulated on all fronts re judicial reform / LGBT) there's still a large risk of Poland getting "juniorised" / "left out" just because of the geopolitical tendencies and undercurrents.
