Possibly controversial opinion - Rules lawyers can be fun, they just got a bad name

How many times are you going to say the same bleeding thing in this thread? You're basically showing what the issue is: Different people have different ideas of what terms and phrases mean.

Unfortunately for you, "Rules Lawyer" has been around longer than the vast majority of people in this thread have been alive and has had a stable meaning that entire time.

"Rules Lawyering" is basically a type of cheating, yes. "Cheating" is the general umbrella term. "Rules Lawyer" falls under that umbrella as a more specific phrase. Similarly, "loaded dice" is also cheating, but it's a specific type of cheating. Just saying someone is a "cheater" doesn't explain the situation because there are a lot of ways people cheat.
