Prepared to be downvoted to oblivion

1) everyone was doing it, bad thing to do but it’s not as if t was to be fairly and evenly distributed amongst the public 2) The British never instituted conscription in India unlike other empires they had a volunteer force apart from during the world wars when UK citizens were conscripted 3) A myth, I used to think that but it never actually happened, we deliberately avoided making Muslims and Hindus go against their religion in such ways 4) sent missionaries but the Raj was a Capitalist enterprise primarily and wasn’t that interested in converting natives though was successful when it came to the lower classes in India 5) one of the Evil things they did but again hardly unheard of at that time 6) based on the fragility of the food system in the country which wasn’t fixed and was then exploited by greedy individuals- shitty thing 7) Won a war and took the diamond as part of the treaty
