Question for therapists

If they “out” you, you’d have a big ethical complaint on your hands!! And a potential lawsuit!

Maybe you can search for therapists who are sex positive and allied with sex workers. There is actually an option on Psychology today to search for those as options in a therapist. You could even disclose on initial consultation that you are a sex worker (before disclosing your grad student status) and ask them their political beliefs about sex work. See what they say!

I wouldn’t see a therapist that evades the question, reflects it back to you and doesn’t answer, or gives you any kind of answer you are uncomfortable with! You deserve to feel safe and affirmed in your therapy, you deserve a space that’s free from stigma :)

Also it’s fucking awesome that you are in school to be a therapist. Good luck to you!
