Quiz time! Can you name the few dozen classical songs that were "borrowed" in this experimental album? See the video page for 63 mini-track skip times, to help make the exam easier.

Hey you did pretty good there! Yeah, the 27 parts for the birds that's their own little tunes I "borrowed". So from 54:02 on, that's all their melodies.

I did make a few dozen instruments from their tones. Didn't use those though. Was going to test out a second track where I used those to play classical.

When you say "the pitches just didn't sound like notes to me", well those are the birds little melodies and tones. So to tell those little dittys off is like somebody telling this stuff off where they're saying the notes sound bad but it could be Beethoven.

Checking your test. Hey at least somebody got started with this. And great, people can click the video links and go, ok that's the cornball ditty. heh. Funny to hear the original, then go check the experimental version.

•00:00 - From La traviata. I think that was a green checkmark.

•01:20 - I want to say Chopin's "Chromatic étude," but the tempo's so fast... Not sure, these guys name this stuff all kinds of who knows what, eh. Like different acts in a play. So could be the same name but maybe it's a different section.

Hang on I just finished this track the other day so still got the teacher's "cheat sheet". Your video said, Chopin Etude Op 10 No.2. Getting warm but family feud red X on that. oh-oh, teacher had to use the red pen there. Circled in the red pen but don't get too much of an F. I'll give ya a D there, bonus points for merit because you were close. But not tellin ya which cornball ditty. lol. So could be a whole other tune, or could be that one, but another act or something.

I didn't speed that one up either. It's just the distortion guitar and 2 metal drum kit throwin ya off. lol. See, classical rocks. haha. I'm makin your stuffy stuff, "cool" for the kids. That's a good thing compared to them thining it's sissy.

Same speed though. But the bass notes, or left hand weren't chords. So it's gonna sound a little different. What I'd do to figure out what notes to use when I want to simplify things, I go along as it plays and pretend you're below pointing a laser upwards. Whichever notes the laser hits, use those. Works ok. Same thing if you have a whole clusterfuck of notes and you wanna simplify it for the lead guitar. Point the laser down.

Some of these guys, looks like more than 2 hands. wow! I'm like, ok how do I split up these notes when they're all in one track. This track was one of them that looked like that when you do chords too. So a lot of notes in one track that I had to split up. Some of this stuff was so bad I'd take a screenshot and send it to my older brothers. I'm there, see, classical is fast as metal, if not faster. It is the top dog of "music" whether you like it or not. Just gotta maybe sometimes weed out some stuff that pop fans would thinks sounds bad. lol.

Ok, what else do we got here.

•07:10 - sounds as labelled, "The Liberty Bell". Yup, ya got Sousa there. That's right kids, it wasn't "Monty Python" who made that cornball ditty. Green check mark for you! Plus first past the post on that answer. Now others can't answer it. See, early bird got the worm. Even though you hate birds tones. lol.

•15:20 - Beethoven, Symphony #7, 4th movement. Hey, ya got it! That was my first tune. I didn't know what I was doing in those days. I start with drums. I go, hey let's go check out some old horror movies and get some noises. Make a beat with that. Then I go, hey let's find a cornball ditty to put in there. I don't have that project file but some of those drum noises were like from movies like The Omen. I went like old school, I think. And then the video, one part where it's like, what do you call that, a crescendo, is that what it is.. when it builds up and you blow your load.. yeah.. I'm there, ok we got stacked layers of all kinds of cop light bars going crazy and the tune stops. I get a shot of the 83 Videodrome movie where his head blows up. But I sorta did effects on it or stretched things out or something and you don't see the guy's head. But uh, how's that for blowing your top. lol. The video for that, I started out with abstract visual things trying to move at the beat. Later said fuck it and just used things like super mario jumping to the timing.

Usually ya wanna start with a cornball ditty, then add drums. None of this has drums so it's like, where's the snare go. But for this one, I had drums already made from the horror movie noises. Oh yeah one of them the chainsaw that was from 81 Evil Dead. Where Bruce Campbell is reving his chainsaw going heh heh.

ok so I had just these drums from horror movie noises. Then I go to add a tune. Heard that Beethoven's 7th in the car earlier that day. So this was the part 4. To make it go with the drums though I had to cut out sections, the speed, I think it slows down. hahaha. If he went on bad notes it's like, sorry dude, that's getting the axe. hahaha. Then use some more from later stuff. So I add the orchestra in the original instruments. Was supposed to substitute stuff. Things fit in not too half assed. I was like, hey this sorta gets going together. Got lazy and just said "voila" meanwhile it's still orchestra. It was supposed to be horror instruments. I made some with tones but didn't even use 'em.

ok, green checkmark there. You the same guy who guessed lots when I was around here years ago with the animal noises one?

So what goes on with you guys... most of you are probably in damn orchestras or something who actually play this stuff. omg. haha. Where was it, oh was watching a documentary the other day about the art of listening to music. A quick edit at one point, they had some chick playing the tuba or something. You see her blowing in there hard for each note. Her eyes scrambling looking at this damn blizzard of notes on paper, probably. You don't think about how they have to breathe in there to play damn notes. Some of this stuff too it's like a slide and you don't even have whole notes, I bet. Like a trombone. So ya gotta know what a pure tone note is, probably.

I was looking at a file the other day and it had all the orchestra components but the instrument names were written in Italian. I'm there what the hell instrument is that. Look it up, see a picture. Never heard of that one. Meanwhile all this stuff, if the power gets cut out, they can keep "rocking". hahaha. But they hate when anybody tries to do something, anything to do with it, with a plugged in instrument. It's gotta be the same thing as they used, what, in 1700. Jeez. Talk about not like, progressing or something. A little closed-minded there about, gotta be like it was. But you guys are pretty cool about me blasphemizing the lot. lol.

The reason I'm "borrowing" your stuff is because I ran out of my own riff combinations I could think of, years ago. If I sit at a keyboard I can do Mary had a little lamb, and that's about it. haha. I have no rhythm, groove, or mojo. In the mid 90's bought a few guitars and basses. Couldn't do chords, too complicated for the fingers. Tuned a guitar like a 6 string bass. Tough to just be able to play one damn note. Have to hold it there, while twanging down there. If you think you're bad, switch hands and it's tough just to play a note properly. Nevermind a chord. So ran out of riffs with that oh around 2000. At least "borrowing" this classical stuff I can proceed trying to play around with music. The reason kids don't like classical is because a lot of it, they got on bad tangents and play notes that sound bad together. They can get kind of "gay" where it's kinda sissy. Sometimes, ya wanna keep it rocking, man. haha. So I try to weed those parts out sometimes. Not easy to keep it flowing with the same metronome after when you're clueless. haha.

Allright, so that was the deal with more about what's up with that track, and all this in general. Ya got it right, the Beethoven's 7th, part 4. Green check mark, ding!

•22:17 - Mozart Piano Sonata #16. Good one! Ding-ding! haha. Come ya guys, you're so straight faced and uptight. Like come on.. this one with dogs! Don't ya like how I figured out how to add some drums. Before that it was just some dude in a powdered wig or something sitting at a piano. Jazz it up, man. haha. What the hell was the deal with these goofy outfits they were back then. Like seriously, that shit sets off my gaydar. Imagine going around with those outfits out there. You'd get gay bashed pretty quick. hahaha. Probably by cops too. haha. So what was up with those fuckin wigs!? Dudes were probably bald too, and you know it. ok, back to the tunes.. yup.. green check mark!

•25:05 - Last Goldberg Variation. Right on buddy. Ding ding. See, this stuff needs some swing. Oh, Glenn Gould. Hey that dude's Canadian too. But hey, he's ripping off somebody else's stuff there. Think of your own stuff, dude. haha. See, it's not just me "borrowing" other people's cornball dittys. lol.

Maxing things out at the 10k characters.. so do this in 2 parts. lol.
