What I wrote here isn’t opinion. Antifa is not fascist. Nor is Marxist. ANTIFA = Anti-Fascist. They go against harsh dictators and people who use the military to enforce laws and police in a nation, and take absolute control and are undemocratic. Marxist is a person who follows Karl Marx’s ideals on communism, which often are linked to fascist regimes, but not always. And there is a difference between terrorism and radicalism. Radicalists have beliefs and will show them and they will promote them, but terrorists will create unfounded fear in a population through extreme violence, like the Las Vegas Route 91 shooting and the Paris/London bombings, or 9/11, and labeling a riot as terrorism discredits these events in history. Labeling a group of peaceful protestors (BLM) as you would rioters (opportunistic anarchists) is also not okay, as they are two distinct groups of people and are at these events for two purposes, the rioters not supporting the cause or taking advantage of the situation. Also, BLM doesn’t want to erase history. They are concerned with memorialized and celebrated events in history that are celebrated and remembered for the wrong reasons. The civil war was a major event in our history, but should we commemorate the people who killed Union soldiers in their want to keep human beings as property? Keep in mind, you are in the Union and they won, so rooting for the side that lost 150 years ago won’t do much. Remembering the confederate generals as heroic discredits the fight that union soldiers (black and white), went through to reunite the states and end slavery. And BLM isn’t against the fact that all lives matter. All lives do matter. Everyone is human and worth just as much as the next person. We all are intelligent and we all feel grief and joy and have our own hardships. They are simply trying to fight the inequality that black people face in society around the world. And there is not just inequality between people of color and white people, nor the rich and poor, nor migrants and citizens, nor police and civilians. They are trying to fight a system that has been harmful to a large number of people, black, white, Hispanic, and Asian.
