I have a few conservative friends.

One is full on crazy religious trumpism. We debate all the time and I have had to beat him up if we get too drunk. To repeat, I have literally had to beat him into physical submission before because of political arguments.

Another is a “republicans stand for being left alone and respecting everyone” and he is basically apolitical these days because he hates conflict and isn’t educated or informed on issues. He’s basically the classic “I don’t know man, let’s keep doing things the same way, my parents were republicans” voter. He has absolutely no defense against almost any question I ask today.

My other friend hated Obama for the superficial reasons. “He didn’t wear the lapel”, “he golfed on Veterans Day”. But he voted for Biden over Trump. He framed the choice as “do I vote for an authoritarian rapist and racist or a kid sniffer,” and tbh, he’s pretty reasonable politically, for a low information guy.

Those are the best examples I can give.
