Radiohead Listening Party in Istanbul Attacked by Islamists

This is a terrible indication of how the lifestyle in Turkey is attempted in being altered through coercion. The government instigates this type of behaviour with their declarations of creating "a religious youth" and outbreeding all others thus becoming a powerful majority that rules with an iron fist. A small but strong portion of the security forces have become reminiscent of the SA prior to the Third Reich and any means of resisting the religious is harshly dealt with.

Us secular and modern types have failed, mainly due to the reasons stated above but also because of the fact that our opposition are also (and have been) corrupt and feeble. Turkey really is changing each passing day and becoming more of a Middle Eastern country.

Yesterday the governor of Istanbul "banned" the LGBT pride march that is supposed to happen tomorrow because it was deemed "to offend islamic values"; however, this "banning" is also in breach of a constitutional right that anyone is allowed to demonstrate peacefully yet not one prosecutor can dare question it as they will immediately destroy their career and most likely end up in a prison cell.

Just today the hosts of the party in the article announced they were going to throw a beer party at the hour of the breaking of the fast to show the religious types the middle finger, and sadly that's the only thing they can do as the government or judiciary (controlled by the government by means of fear) isn't doing anything to protect its unfavored citizens.

I have no idea how we can turn this around but I can say with each passing day they are drowning out more of anyone that isn't like them, and next elections even more children of the ignorant religious minority will have reached their legal voting age. This is the answer as to why "Turkey keeps re-electing these psychopaths with over 50% of the votes" that is frequently asked around here, only next time it won't stop at 50% at this rate.
