Lol, I don't think I can take that kind of credit. I think my only influence on his life was him just not graduating. He wasn't really interested in going to college and he was already heavily into drugs before I met him in middle school. He's made a lot of bad life choices...
But I'm the only one who's ever had him arrested. I had my friend arrested for $50 fucking dollars. I thought he'd be taught a lesson by the school. I never guessed that they'd actually arrest him, I figured suspension was definitely what'd happen. He had the option to go back, but because of the arrest he was a bit ashamed to and just dropped out. I regret doing it because it was a shallow thing to do to a friend. Never mind that he's an idiot who did steal anything he wanted from people, he was a friend. Not a very good friend, but still a friend. He was a really chill guy, and damn intelligent. He was just picked on over elementary school, was misunderstood and in the end developed a serious case of kleptomania.
As it is now, the whole friend circle has pretty much abandoned him. He's had 10 years to get his GED, and he tried, but he was so fucked on drugs that he ended up blacking out and getting into a major accident about two years after high school and stopped trying to get his GED after that. In the last 8 years he's held a few jobs, but he stole money from every single one and subsequently lost those jobs. Failed a drug test while working at Walmart when his cash drawer came up $200 short one night. Was once fired for stealing a case of liquor, too. As far as why the friendships fell apart? He steals a lot of shit from people. He's known to steal video games, televisions and jewelry from people, as well as drugs. He's kind of lucky he's only been arrested once, I think. His current relationship was the cause of his longtime high school relationship falling apart a couple of years back. Two months after that relationship ended, him and his current girl were already expecting. Neither want to work now, and just try to fuck anyone who comes over for money.
TL;DR: I think I barely impacted his life. I just regret the choice I made because it was shallow and stupid to do to a friend. Even if he wasn't a very good friend.
