Reddit, where/what was the best date you ever went on?

I was telling my friend about how I hadn't had much luck dating since I got divorced and I mentioned that thought I was maybe being too picky.

She asked me what my ideal guy would be like, and after listing off some oddly specific things, she told me that I'd basically just described a friend of hers to a tee. This friend was also single and having little luck in the dating department, so I asked to see a picture.

As soon as I saw him I was smitten. I had to meet him. She told me to add him on Facebook, but I wasn't sure what to do after that (wait for him to message me? Message him first? What do I say? Wouldn't I come off as kind of weird if I added him even though we hadn't met?).

That night, I Googled him and his LinkedIn profile came up. I saved his picture on my phone, but after a day or two I deleted it. That level of lurking made me creep MYSELF out.

A month later, I was still thinking about him, so I just added him and sent a quick message simply saying, "Hello, hello."

We talked a lot on for messenger, and conversation flowed effortlessly.  It was almost too good to be true. He was funny, smart, liked a lot of the stuff I do, the whole bit. After a week of this, he asked me out.

Where would you like to go, I asked. He named a few bars I'd never heard of, but bars aren't my thing. I get uncomfortable and hate crowds of people, and I couldn't have any of that. I needed to make the best impression I could.

I told him I'm not a bar person, more of a stay at home and play board games kinda girl. He told me that was awesome and way better than a bar any day.

So finally the night of the date comes, and I'm pretty much so nervous I could die. He comes to pick me up and I finally see him in person. He's even more amazingly gorgeous, and so much my "type" it's unreal.

We clicked immediately, and suddenly I wasn't so nervous. Everything seemed so natural between us, like we'd known each other for years.

We spent the whole night watching Mst3k and eating pizza and drinking wine. It was so simple and casual and nothing over the top exciting, but it was the most perfect date I'd ever had, and one of the best days of my entire life.

3 years later, here we are. I love him more every single day. I feel like the luckiest person on earth.
