Relative charged with felony possession of explicit material of a minor. They say they can't attend my wedding due to minors being present. Are they misinterpreting something? GA, USA

This relative was a very large part of my life. I would like them to be there on my wedding day. If the arrest happened in two weeks, this wouldn't be an issue.

I don't think a reasonable person would want to take on the risk of having this person at their wedding where minors will be present.

I definitely see where you're coming from, but looking at porn is incredibly different than sexually assaulting someone, in my opinion. To me, that's like saying "Why should a student who looks at porn be allowed to take a class where there are girls present?"

Obviously, I am not a lawyer, so the distinction between the two might legally be miniscule, but the risk for someone to sexually assault someone while surrounded by people just doesn't seem reasonable. And, if any risk does exist, shouldn't some sort of escort be permissible?

Also, by saying this, it sort of diminishes this person to an animal. I feel like you're implying that they wouldn't be able to contain themselves, and would leap on someone at the first chance. That they couldn't just be at a ceremony.

Again, I see where you're coming from, but it doesn't seem likely at all. Just seems kind of hurtful.
