Agnostic "muslim" throwing my opinion here:
No, the roots of religious terrorism come from political grievances as opposed to theological ones. When people approach religion, the first thing they do is look around them before going to the books. The Quran is a very diverse book that is a conduct philosophy of a civilization. People are quick to say Islam is the problem, but i genuinely feel its Muslims that are the problem. The only time when religion becomes violent is when it is nationalized. I really don't care what pee pee polls or quotes from the Quran to push this idea that Islam is fucked, the reality is that the western powers are currently continuing colonizing the region for its resources. You need to stop & actually see the world for what it is. Nothing is new here. These islamic terrorist groups are nothing more than guerrilla groups that hold political grievances towards the US. I would not be surprised that a few 'conspiracy theories' are actually true, that these groups were sprung up to spread political expansionism, but its useless to use them in rational debate.
There is a shocking resemblance between islamic groups and the communist guerrilla fighters in south america. You might suggest no, they're different because Islam blah blah, no dude; they are the same. I know people want to reject the idea of making Islam immune to criticism, but its really seems to be the case that these groups are purely political.

these are the only quick ones i could find, but there are multiple better examples out there. Considering that now is the age of mass-media, videos are key. Islamic McCarthyism is the in thing (I'm not saying its not rational to be opposed to it).
honestly, you have more of a chance to die from prescription pills than islamic terrorism. Islamic terrorism is a sensationalized threat. Just stop worrying about it, and pray that these politicians finish what they want to finish soon. I wonder if africa is next? or maybe east asia? no idea. bombing black people seems too controversial, so I'm assuming China will be next.
