ROUNDTABLE - June 23, 2019

So I’ve been trying not to bring up Mayor Pete so much here but I have to say.... he had Beto had drastically different weekends. Beto’s weekend in SC was a triumph and has earned him a ton of praise and recognition. His message of unity and optimism, combined with his causal and inclusive campaign style, is really gaining traction with voters, imo.

On the other hand, Mayor Pete’s city is hanging together by a thread and he gave a truly disastrous performance at the town hall that he held today. He seemed disinterested and dismissive. He did nothing to look like a leader and, IMO, made the situation worse. It was his time to shine and he failed.

I don’t really want to get into that though. The reason I bring it up is because I think it will be interesting to see which way the media decides to run with this. Will Beto get the props he deserves? Or ignored completely? Will Mayor Pete be portrayed as the poor young Mayor who was heckled at a town hall? Will the entire thing be ignored outright? Will he get the criticism he deserves from Joe & Mika and their ilk?
