Russia Receives Lowest Approval in World: Russia in 2014 earned the lowest approval ratings globally for the eighth consecutive year and posted the highest disapproval ratings it has received to date

Yeah, we've certainly heard nothing about that since 2003.

Mate, you have no idea what you're talking about. Your entire comment is a piss-poor attempt at a vindication of the US. Did you live in Europe during the early 2000's? Did you watch the news daily, and did you pick up on the general tone of our media? I did, and it's radically different from what our media is reporting on Putin these days. The skepticism, critical attitude and downright distrust towards anything that Putin does or says was completely missing when the US decided to invade Iraq.

The war that's over? And it was legal, you may not like it but legality isn't based on what you like.

It's only "legal" because it went uncontested in the Security Council. As then United Nations Secretary-General Kofi Annan said in September 2004 ""From our point of view and the UN Charter point of view, it [the war] was illegal." - and by all means, standards and protocols, it was. Read up on international law[1] regarding this subject, and the many, many issues there exist with America's legality claims. As such, America's claims of legality are no more credible than Putin's claims of legitimacy when it comes to Crimea. They're both founded on the same sort of flimsy, pro-forma excuses that nobody really believes and that only exist to offer the most minimal of justifications.

Or because they share the same goals and objectives.

And what might those be? What benefit does the Dutch government have in passing on my metadata? Anti-terrorism? You're sugarcoating bullshit.

By all means, put sanctions on us.

Yes, this kind of snarky attitude is exactly what I'm talking about. Americans dislike their government, but if you point out their government's misconduct they'll go to great lengths to defend whatever corrupt, two-faced regime was in power during that particular presidential term. In one sentence, just one tiny sentence, you managed to exemplify the sort of bully-attitude that makes America's wrongdoings go uncontested. Nobody can fuck with your government because they're the most powerful one around.
