Russian fake news is causing trouble in Latvia: For every Russian language tweet in Latvia sent by a real person, 5 are sent by bots. The goal of this disinfo is to imply "Latvia is a failed state with a fascist heritage" rather than an EU country with a higher GDP per capita than Poland or Hungary

I'm in Germany and our propaganda ( which comes from our far right party AfD, and if they have ties to Russia I really don't know) here is in a different direction, it's more about "refugees steal all our money, they are all criminal etc" but the same approach seems to help. I have a few neighbors who buy into this fearmongering shit, and tell me how next year Germany will be only Muslim and Christianity will be banned and stuff like that. But when I ask them where they see the signs for this, if they had encountered criminal refugees or churches being taken over by Muslims they seem to realize, much like your relatives, that all these things have in fact very little to do with the reality.
