[Serious] People who knew murders, rapists, arsonist etc. when they were children, what were they like?

I'm late to the party. I've known two people do extended time for sick stuff.

The first was one of my previous 'trainers' at work. He was an odd fellow and met every texbook definition of rapist. He was transparent white, greasy flat hair, and a mustache that looked borroed from a police lineup. Coupled with terrible posture and only 150 lbs on a 6"2ish frame...he was a creep. I've always heard the stories about how he was a creep and did weird stuff (like eat butter raw) and that one time he had a prescription to hustler mailed to the work mail rather than home. Anyway, it wasn't much a surprise when the FBI raided his house and arrested him for something like 500 counts of child pornography.

The second one took me completely by surprise. Donny Stall-worth. I was a aircraft mechanic working in Florida. He was working in the "tool crib" (a place to get tools from, so you could go fix planes). He was the epitome of gentle southern black man. Tall, thick, deep slow southern draw and frinedly. He was just a nice guy. I remember one afternoon, my cars tire blew out. He happened to pass by (must have been less than 1/4 behind me) and stopped. He offered to take me up the road to get a new tire, I took him up on it. He brought me back. Just a guy that would go out of his way to help. ...then, the murder. He didn't murder anyone, but he was very involved. I think around 6 or so actually normal people decided to get together and rob this family. Here's the heart puller. They were entrepreneurs who had a love for adopting children with special needs (14 special needs children adopted). If there were ever a 'sweetest family', that's the Billings. Anyway, these 6 or so dudes went to rob them and steal a safe from the house. Something went wrong and one of the people doing the robbing ended up murdering Mr. & Mrs. Billings. My coworker almost received the death penalty for it. He's serving life.
