Silicon Valley monopolies have made Zoomers terrible with computers and that's awful for any chance of fighting back against neoliberalism. All they know how to do is use interfaces designed to make everything as easy as possible.

I actually kind of hate takes like this and I’m also not sure what this has to do with idpol.

I’m a software engineer and when I was younger I thought the coolest thing ever was being able to use the command line to do shit nowadays i fucking hate technology, If I could I would outright just about refuse to use interfaces that aren’t “designed to make everything as easy as possible” I don’t want to go on stackoverflow just to figure out how to make skype or whatever the fuck it is work properly. I firmly believe we should be smart enough to build software that just works. Unless the complexity of the task is appropriate for it, the usage of an app or website or whatever should be self evident imo.

Every single month when I have to submit my timesheet I fuck up somehow because the timesheet website is a piece of shit. It can’t import (to my knowledge) meetings from outlook which need to be manually entered into the timesheet, it cant pull tasks that are assigned to me in JIRA it cannot even pre populate public holidays. It is absolutely inevitable that I will fuck up while I write up the thing and it would be so easy to prevent.

idk sorry im probably overreacting to the post but I needed to rant
